  • What's included in a TSCM bug sweep:

Technical Surveillance Countermeasures (TSCM) includes all countermeasures employed to prevent or detect the interception of sensitive, classified or private information.

The TSCM inspection (or electronic eavesdropping inspection) consists of the following:

    • A physical search for obvious unauthorized eavesdropping devices, such as digital tape recorders, recorder start up boxes attached to the phone wall plate or key catchers attached to the rear of a computer.

    • Utilizing a communication receiver and spectrum analyzer, the radio spectrum 10 KHz to 3.3 GHz is examined for signals emitting from within the target area.

    • With the use of a wideband receiver that covers the spectrum from 10 KHz to 12 GHz, the target area is electronically searched for any signals emitting from within the location. The equipment will detect analog, digital, spread spectrum, frequency hopping and infrared devices. The equipment will detect most audio recorders and covert cameras.

    • Electrical outlets are electronically examined for carrier current devices that would transmit voice or data communication.

    • All phone instruments are physically examined for obvious changes or exterior phone tap devices that would allow eavesdropping. Phone instruments and wiring are then electronically examined for unauthorized listening devices or altered wiring that would allow eavesdropping. This applies to computers, modems and fax machines.

    • When appropriate, the target location is checked for infrared and acoustic transmissions.

    • A non-linear junction detector (NLJD) is also used if necessary. It detects the components of cameras, transmitters, microphones and tracking devices.

All services are performed in complete confidence.

All client information is deemed confidential - before, during and after the rendering of services.

Case Study: Bug Sweeps

Counter Surveillance Case Study

Los Angeles Bug Sweep

The office administrator at a Los Angeles law firm visited our Los Angeles office. The problem: they knew they had an internal leak. When they went to court they were getting hit over the head - as opposing counsel had detailed information which they should not have had.

Results:

After a sweep of their offices, our private investigators found 2 listening devices: one in the boardroom, and a second one in one of the partners' offices.
