Over the years, I’ve spent a lot of time and money to make sure Martin Investigative Services is on top of new trends and technologies. Every couple of years, we spend tens of thousands on the latest bug detection equipment to keep up with changes in illegally-placed video and eavesdropping devices.
This investment also extends to more intangible things, such as our Web site and marketing efforts. I believe there have been about 7 or 8 major versions of MartinPI.com so far, and there’s another major version in development right now.
The point is that things change. You have to change with them (or more accurately change ahead of them), or you’ll get left behind.
Online, we are blessed with some good positioning in the private investigative industry, but honestly, it’s mainly because most of our competitors are still stuck in 2005. In short: They have old Web sites that they never update.
With anything in life, if you want to do something well, you need to put in a lot of time, effort and investment on a regular basis. It’s never easy.
And that brings us to a preview of what’s coming next.
A few years ago, I launched this private investigator blog on MartinPI.com. As an experiment, we’ve tried a number of approaches and angles, each with various levels of success.
Soon, we’re going to try something different. I’m going to get away from the posts about current events, cases in the news, and general advice pieces in order to make an effort to write about actual cases our firm has had from the week prior, while keeping the names and details anonymous.
The thinking is that this is what’s real. While all of this is commonplace and “normal” to me as a daily part of my life, I’ve found this is what is actually of relevance and interest to people.
If you’ve ever met me in person, you know that in 5 minutes I can tell you stories that meet or exceed any Hollywood screenwriter’s dreams. Reality is always stranger than fiction.
So if you haven’t already, like us on Facebook or add us to your circles on Google+, and you’ll get notifications of the latest entries as they are posted.
See you next week!
