This month, we decided to open Martin Investigative Services’ 5th office, offering San Francisco private investigation services. Why do this, after 44 years as a former Federal agent and private investigator?
The answer is a simple, straight-forward one: The need for quality private investigators in San Francisco and the current investigative establishment there can’t handle the workload. Truth be told, although there are dozens of private investigators in that area, the top-echelon investigators are limited in number.
The decision to open an actual office came from the amount of calls we have been receiving (at our Newport Beach corporate office) requesting private investigation services in and around the Bay area. My staff compiled a list of the Northern California cities that we have received phone calls, emails and letters from just January 1, 2015 to the present. Even I was surprised at the number of different inquires (over 125) and the variety of cities involved: San Francisco, Sacramento, Alameda, San Jose, San Mateo, Stockton, Walnut Creek, Milpitas, Oakland, Santa Rosa, Palo Alto, Hayward, Santa Cruz, Pleasonton, Redwood City, Fremont, and Berkeley.
As per our other offices, most (if not all) calls fall into one of four main groups: Corporate America, attorneys, insurance companies, and the general public.
It has been my experience that you can’t properly serve these groups without an office. While having an office doesn’t necessarily make you a good or great investigator, for the prospective client, it does provide some comfort and solace that the agency they will be dealing with will be around to answer questions and to justify work completed for the retainer that was provided. Meeting private investigators at Starbucks or the local gin mill is to be completely avoided. Granted, in our age, many cases can be worked through emails and telephonic conversations, but when your particular case involves life changing decisions on your part, it may behoove you to meet with the private investigators who will be conducting your particular investigation. Although we do hundreds of cases every year, there is none more important than yours.
My experience in San Francisco dates back to 1969 when I was an agent at the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs, the agency known today as the Drug Enforcement Administration. I was assigned to Region 14, which covered San Francisco and the surrounding areas. Later in my career, I was promoted to the head of the Planning and Evaluation Group for the Western Region of the United States. My duties included preparing written proposals to management on the enforcement of the United States drug laws in and around the San Francisco area.
That experience, knowledge and expertise will be an invaluable tool in the services of my private investigative firm’s clients in the San Francisco area. I currently have a staff of investigators in Northern California that are unsurpassed within the current investigative establishment. All work in San Francisco will be supervised and completed by former agents of the FBI, DEA, IRS or Secret Service.
The most important quality in our business is to have mastered the art of interview and interrogation. It is an integral part of every facet of our investigative lives. Most law enforcement personnel agree that this skill takes a minimum of 12 years to master. When you have reached the pinnacle of success in this subject matter, you are given the highest honor to teach at the Federal academies and at both the Department of Justice and Treasury. I was honored to have been selected to teach not only at those agencies but also other law enforcement personnel throughout the United States and in 60 foreign countries.
My San Francisco office has private investigators that I have hand-selected over the years who were at my side teaching this and other important skill sets. Be assured, we are cognizant that everything we do for you might be in front of a judge or jury one day. Many of the criminal cases we work will have our clients lives literally hanging in the balance. Our civil cases can rendered judgements in the millions of dollars or send someone home devastated and only with huge attorney fees. Asset searches and background checks, done with our own highly proprietary in-house computer system, can be advantageous and eye-opening. Our martial (cheating spouse) cases can not only changes the lives of our client, their mate and children – but there’s also a domino effect on the person (and family) with whom they are having an affair. Corporate investigations involves clients who need our skills to find out who is stealing time, money and product and killing their bottom line profits. We have over 1000 attorneys throughout the United States who rely on our work product in local, state and federal courts. Insurance companies routinely retain our services to analyze their caseload and discern between the fakers, liars, cheats and those who are legitimately injured.
We try to make your inquiries as simple as possible. You can call our toll-free San Francisco number at 800.577.1080 anytime for a free consultation. We can discuss an investigative plan, how long it will take and the exact cost you can be expected to pay. Finally, we offer the only known fully money back guarantee in the private investigative business. If you are not pleased and we can’t make it right or to your satisfaction, we will return your retainer in full.
