Many cases at Martin Investigative Services involve women who suspect their their husband may be cheating on them. While not all of these cases result in confirmation of a cheating spouse, a lot of them do.
Delivering the bad news can be challenging, but it’s important to do so in a way that is sensitive to what the person is going through, and then get that person any psychological or legal help they may need, so that they can get a divorce and move forward with their life.
A transcript of the video follows:
One of the important things about picking a private investigator is to make sure that private investigator has some sensitivity about the bad news that he may bring to a client.
One of the cases that I try and tell the younger investigators or any investigators that are just starting out that can be very, very difficult to handle and that is when you have a woman and you tell her the bad news that her husband was just at the no-tell motel with Mary Lou.
Most of the women do not take this news very well and you can understand why. I describe it as taking a piece of Lladro off the Empire State building and dropping it. When it hits it shatters in a million pieces.
This was really brought home to me earlier on in my career when I brought in a woman on Monday morning and showed her the video tape and showed her the reports from our investigators. She literally, for the first time in my career, I saw somebody actually throw-up right in front of me because she was so sick.
That is an extreme case that has happened maybe twenty-five to thirty times of the thousands that we have had.
I think that particular case brings home you better have some sense of being able to comfort a person in that regard and them being able to get them the right psychological and lawyer help so that they bring the marriage to an end with some good finality.
